The primary purpose of this position is: To provide professional social work services in support of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). As the FAIS, designs, develops, coordinates and implements the secondary prevention component of FAP. Serves as the installation secondary prevention subject matter expert.

Duties

Designs, develops, coordinates, and implements the secondary prevention component of FAP. Responsible for case management activities occurring from initial referral and counseling, through case closure, or transfer. Provides professional advisory services and training to other health care professionals, installation personnel, and community agencies concerning secondary prevention programs; and serves as community liaison with military and civilian agencies.   • This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
  • Completion of appropriate clinical and administrative duties may involve after hours care or work in addition. to regular clinic hours.
  • Position has been identified as having regular contact with children, requiring a criminal history background check to be completed on any person selected for the position IAW DOD guidance.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • Must have practiced as an independent licensed clinical social worker within past two years.
  • May share on-call duty during weeknights and/or weekends on a rotational basis as required. consistent with other mental health professionals performing like duties.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Social Work Series, 0185. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have at least one year or will have within 120 days of the closing of this announcement specialized experience at the GS-11 (or higher) grade level or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Professional knowledge of social work and Family Advocacy Program management practices, principles, and theories to develop and implement comprehensive primary and secondary prevention programs that address effective programs to prevent or lessen the impact of a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of social work practices, principles, and theories to carry full professional responsibility for cases involving a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems. 2. Knowledge and experience in the organization, management, and administration of child and family welfare services to participate in program planning and in the development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with local agencies and community agencies. 3. Knowledge of a wide array of problems and disorders of children and families, and the varied resources needed to treat them. 4. Ability to evaluate and determine best application of multiple complex helping systems, various professions, and organizations; how they affect child and family welfare; and the multiple uses of such systems, professions, and organizations to deliver services. 5. Ability to directly apply professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families. 6. Ability to assess, intervene, and provide therapeutic intervention. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
