This position is in Region 7, Superfund and Emergency Management Division, Assessment, Emergency Response and Removal Branch, Response, Removal & Emergency Preparedness Section. Qualifications

We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below: To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as experience conducting planning activity in environmental response programs. To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as assisting in the development and implementation of emergency planning and response programs; and providing guidance to various stakeholders on regulatory or policy issues and questions related to the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP). Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of environmental protection principles as they apply to contingency planning for accidental or deliberate releases of hazardous materials. Knowledge of principles and practices related to emergency management, preparedness, and environmental emergency response. Knowledge of the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP). Knowledge of evaluative methods and how EPA programs are administered. Ability to lead others. Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Ability to interact with officials of other federal, state, tribal and local agencies in both routine and highly charged response situations. Skill in problem solving. Skill in oral communication. Skill in written communication. Skill in project management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
