Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team at the Office of Legal Education (OLE) and serve as an advisor to the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) and other senior training officials. OLE's mission is to promote justice through training, educating, and developing Department of Justice (DOJ) personnel and the broader government legal community in legal support and administrative skills. OLE provides substantive support for the planning, delivery, operation, and evaluation of training programs for EOUSA, the Department of Justice, and other Federal agencies. The NAC is located on the campus of the University of South Carolina (UofSC) in Columbia, SC. If selected for this position, some of your duties will include: Providing education on victims' rights programs and guidelines available to facilitate services and assistance to crime victims, and unique victim-related issues that affect investigating and prosecuting crimes against persons. Serving as the liaison between the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) and the OLE leadership regularly on training materials, publications, timely topics, and emerging issues. Planning, developing, and formulating policies and guidelines to implement new programs or training initiatives on behalf of the Department of Justice, and to expand and/or modify existing training programs. Analyzing legal education needs to develop and recommend long range and short range goals and objectives for legal education training programs. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: (1) J.D. Degree [you MUST include transcripts in your application]. (2) Active member of the bar in any U.S. jurisdiction [you MUST include proof in your application]. (3) At least 4 years post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience in at least two of the following program areas: Legal education, training, and development Crime Victim assistance Victim Witness programs United States citizenship is required.You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, see www.ed.gov.
