This position is Flexible, guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours but can work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. May include nights, weekends and holidays. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible for leave or benefits.
Duties
Central Cashier for the squadron Non Appropriated Funds (NAF) banking requirements: Ensures proper identification before cash disbursements are made. Receives, counts, and balances all receipts turned in by activities, consolidates receipts, and disburses funds to replenish change funds. Maintains a control log, documents by NAFI/Activity each transaction, and prepares a consolidated daily report. Maintains proper amounts and denominations of cash to replenish change funds. Prepares bank deposits and ensures daily deposits are made in a timely manner. Accounts for funds by balancing with daily activity reports before transporting funds for deposit. Schedules activity deposit times and ensure all activities are depositing funds according to schedules/daily and notifies supervisor of any irregularities. Applies AF Instructions, regulations, and internal operating instructions to cash management and accountability. Accepts payments for the recourse accounts and dishonored checks. Performs internal audits and surprise cash counts. Performs double-entry accrual accounting work in order to maintain a combination of journals and ledgers. Examines, verifies, and analyzes a variety of documents to determine their mathematical correctness, validity, and clerical accuracy. Documents may include purchase orders, vouchers, payrolls, property records, etc., which are complicated by discounts, partial payments, etc. Resolves disagreements by contacting vendor, completes posting documents with backup attached, codes documents, and posts to appropriate ledger or journal. Posts and totals general ledger accounts each month. Prepares worksheets, statements, and closes accounts. Prepares reports monthly, quarterly, and annually, reflecting the financial condition of activities serviced by the accounting unit. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in work which provided a knowledge of double entry accounting procedures and techniques; knowledge of procedures used to enter, modify, retrieve and delete information in an automated general ledger system; and the ability to analyze the interrelationship of accounts that are affected by varied transactions.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
