You will serve as a PLANNER & ESTIMATOR (SHEET METAL MECHANIC) AIRCRAFT in the MRO Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER WEST located at Naval Air Station Fallon, NV.
Duties
You will estimate and negotiate scope of work and workload requirements to support depot level repair requirements for external fleet activities.
You will act a the principal command liaison with external activities and provide on-site Planner and Estimator condition inspections, special inspections, and specific rework requirements on aircraft.
You will prepare disposition reports, plans, estimates, coordinates and implements the workload schedules for induction of aircraft within the on/off station emergency aircraft repair programs.
You will determine manpower, support material, tooling, technical data, skills and material requirements and coordinate all phases of work with proper authority.
You will be required to have regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of this position.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.
Qualifications

A. Have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: Journey Level Sheet Metal Mechanic experience applying operating principles and functions of various aircraft structures, systems, sub-systems, components, accessories and a general working knowledge of associated aircraft production trades; Possess a good understanding of associated trades in addition to your specific trade; Applying aircraft rework procedures, methods of repair/fabrication, shop practices, material, support equipment and special tools of own and associated trades; Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, Requests for Engineering Information/Temporary Engineering Instruction (REI/TEI), blueprints, and other technical data; Working knowledge of key examination and evaluation processes such as: induction, disassembly, assembly, aircraft inventory, system evaluation, troubleshooting, corrosion condition evaluation, log book review, Noticed but not Corrected (NBNC) process. Ability to work from raw data as well as formal directives, instructions, publications.
B. Have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including: Sheet Metal Mechanic experience applying operating principles and functions of various aircraft structures, systems, sub-systems, components, accessories and a general working knowledge of associated aircraft production trades; Possess a good understanding of associated trades in addition to your specific trade; Applying aircraft rework procedures, methods of repair/fabrication, shop practices, material, support equipment and special tools of own and associated trades; Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, Requests for Engineering Information/ Temporary Engineering Instruction (REI/TEI), blueprints, and other technical data.
C. Have the ability to perform common tasks including: Assembling/dissembling of aircraft and aircraft components; Constructing, assembling and installing irregular items/systems; Applying knowledge of all techniques used to assemble metal systems and ability to recognize size bolts, screws, rivets and all fasteners associated with aircraft trade; Utilize wide variety of complicated hand and power tools as well as precision measuring instruments; Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, schematics of item to be repaired.
