You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Fire & Emergency Services division of COMMANDER NAVY REGION MARIANAS.

Duties

You will develop budgetary supporting data to ensure efficiency when purchasing new equipment and materials. You will conduct cost comparison/benefit analysis for equipment improvements. You will participate in the forecast of needed for equipment, materials, and supplies for the program. You will develop training SOP's for fire protection and prevention, emergency services to ensure that personnel have the background and training to perform their duties. You will coordinate with Accreditation Program Manager to schedule workshops and training sessions for Joint Region Marianas. You will provide technical assistance to installations to ensure all accreditation requirements are completed. You will develop and maintain positive working relationships with local municipal fire departments and Regional Fire chiefs to maintain liaison and firm working agreements.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing and overseeing assistance and recommendations concerning fire protection services (e.g. special operations, accreditation programs, budget, vehicle maintenance, inspection and schedules training). Selectee must possess and maintain Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard Certifications: FIRE OFFICER IV; FIRE INSPECTOR II; FIRE INSTRUCTOR III; AIRPORT FIREFIGHTER; HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT COMMANDER; EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATOR (EVOC) (NOTE: A copy of your certificate MUST be submitted with your resume. Failure to provide the required documents will render you not eligible for consideration.) Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Additional Information: You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. This position requires evening and weekend work. This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Position Designation: This position is considered a "Secondary" position within the firefighter Special Retirement System. Secondary positions are supervisory or administrative firefighter positions. Administrative positions whose duties are of an administrative nature (i.e. executive, managerial, technical, semiprofessional, or professional) for which the experience in a primary firefighter position is a prerequisite. Duty Hours: Incumbent is considered essential to the day-to-day operations of the supported installation and is subject to immediate recall or long term shift assignments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for extended periods of time. Incumbent is required to work a 60-hour work week that includes one 24-hour shift weekly. This 24-shift shall be in an "operations" position assigned within Joint Region Marianas (JRM) area of responsibility to support installation staffing requirements, continuing education requirements, and associated Chief Fire Officer skills.
