This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Electrical Equipment Worker for the Range Training Complex. Position is located at Yakima Training Center, WA.

Duties

Disassembles, diagnoses repairs/replaces, modifies and tests difficult electrical equipment, such as: AC induction motors (60-400 cycle), DC motors, generators, tachometers, Transformers and amplidynes, Disassembles, diagnoses repairs/replaces, modifies and tests standard and routine electrical items, for example armatures, motors, regulators, solenoid valves, wiring, etc. Use Diagnostic test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters , micrometers etc. to troubleshoot electrical problems. Operate various vehicles/ equipment to assist in the repair of electrical devices.

• A pre-employment physical is required; job requires frequent heavy lifting of items weighing up to 70 lbs and more with assistance.

• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrical Equipment Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. such work includes demonstrated experience using tools such as screw drivers, pliers, cutters, levels, fish tape, wire strippers and crimpers, hammers, punches, etc. to repair and install electrical systems. Measuring, cutting, threading , and bending conduit. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Requires frequent lifting, and carrying of target mechanisms, tools, and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds. Heavier items may be moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and working at heights over 40 feet. Requires prolonged standing on concrete floors and walking over rough and uneven terrain. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside during all types of weather. Works around military combat and tactical wheeled and tracked vehicles and heavy equipment during live fire operations. Subject to abrasions, cuts, thermal and chemical burns, electrical shock, snakebites, skin irritants from poisonous plants, falls from a 40 foot tower, and explosions. Exposed to unpleasant conditions from dirt, solvents, fuel, fumes, oil, and grease. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment such as hearing protection, hard hats with face shield, glasses and safety shoes.
