You will serve as a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER in the OPERATIONS (N3), FORCE PROTECTION (N32) of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY ORLANDO. This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annuity in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 842, and Subpart H.

Duties

You will coordinate emergency response for calls concerning complaints or reports of violations. You will respond to and investigate complaints while enforcing state and federal laws and regulations. You will conduct investigative stops on violators of traffic laws. You will implement force protection measures in compliance with laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. Must qualify for and maintain an emergency vehicle operators endorsement.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to grooming standards.
  • Employee must successfully pass an initial, annual, or any required OPM, DoD, or DON mental and emotional stability, screening, Physical Agility Test, and medical screening.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English. Must meet OPM hearing and vision requirements to include distinguishing basic shades of color.
  • Must meet applicable Federal minimum age requirements for the assigned installation.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS 07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directing and making immediate decisions in the provisions of law enforcement (LE), antiterrorism (AT), and Force Protection (FP); 2) performing a full range of duties and responsibilities in preventing terrorist activities, resolving offenses, conducting preliminary and ongoing investigations of incidents; 3) Documenting law enforcement and security events and the issuance of citations; and, 4) Implementing FPCON measures and RAM in the response to command direction and terrorist threats.
