This position is located in the Office of Operations/Office of Facilities, Engineering and Mission Support Services/Division of Operations Management and Community Relations/Facilities Management and Operations Branch which create a high quality work environment by providing vital facilities and mission support services to meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders nationwide.

Duties

Serves as a Building Facility Specialist for the broad spectrum of complex buildings and facilities operations matters with expertise in such disciplines as custodial services, landscaping, and operation of mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems. Coordinates and supports representatives in the Employee Resources and Information Center call center to coordinate and resolve facilities operations issues impacting field operations activities employees on the research and laboratory campus. Coordinates facilities planning and project development for FDA and provides oversight on specific projects to ensure that data collection, analysis and project implementation are complete and accurate.

Qualifications

The position of Building Management Specialist falls under the 1176 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-13, you must meet all requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 12/05/2023. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations. GS-13: You must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12, in the Federal service, which includes: experience in coordinating building operational requirements with various public services such as public utilities, police, and emergency management services, intra/inter-organization personnel, contractors, and vendors; helping analyze service request data to identify trends and develop solutions to solve ongoing problems with infrastructure and facilities, equipment, and/or building systems; serving as a building/facility manager between service providers on all matters pertaining to securing repairs and maintenance service, and improvements to the facilities and infrastructure, grounds and equipment.
