About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties

Use dynamometer to test drive motors for proper operations. Provide troubleshooting to determine malfunctions. Conduct operational tests for pneudraulic components. Check parts for correct configuration to update systems for serviceability in accordance with work orders and other technical publications..

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Position may be converted to permanent without further competition.
  • Position may be filled as a detail NTE.
  • This position will require the incumbent to handle, store, and dispose of hazardous material/waste.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 45lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Pneudraulic System Repair Inspector without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common pneudraulic systems repairing duties which includes removing, repairing or replacing defective wires, connectors, switches and relays using proper electrical soldering techniques, sealing and potting procedures. I am skilled at using jigs, fixtures, special tools, test equipment, measuring devices, and cleaning equipment associated with the work being performed. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to InspectAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble shootingUse of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Frequent lift of items weighting in excess of 45 pounds is required. Lifting devices such as hoists and slings are available in many of the workstations. Required to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods of time on concrete or wooden floors. Working Conditions: Duties are performed predominately inside a well-lighted and ventilated shop building. Frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, bruises, and sprains while repairing or positioning, installing, testing, or correcting, defects. Utilizes required protective safety devices and equipment prescribed for working area.
