You will serve as a TRAINING TANK ATTENDANT in the RANGE & TRAINING AREA MANAGEMENT DIVISION of MARINE CORPS BASE.
Duties
You will monitor training to include verifying certifications of safety and other designated personnel, and status of medical equipment, safety equipment and safety vehicles.
You will report all maintenance deficiencies, problems and scheduling information to the training tank coordinator.
You will assist all potential training tank users on matters pertaining to the operation, capabilities and scheduling of the two training tank facilities.
You will maintain complete logbooks, records and utilization data for the facility.
You will monitor weather conditions and direct the evacuation of the tanks when thunderstorm conditions require it.
You will submit daily training schedules to the training tank coordinator for publication in the Daily Firing and Airspace Utilization Warning Order.
You will ensure all required safety equipment is on-site and properly functioning and that a designated safety vehicle is present.
You will ensure that prior to any training commencing that all required safety personnel are available and are properly certified
You will ensure all government equipment and facilities are secured at the end of their assigned duties.
You will use automated data processing equipment to include desktop computers, laptop computers, printers, fax machines, copiers and telephones in their daily duties.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This position may require the ability to lift and carry loads of up to 50 lbs.
- You will be required to possess a current American Red Cross equivalent lifeguard certification.
- This position may require the ability to climb ladders.
- This position requires the ability to operate a government vehicle.
- You will be required to complete formal RFMSS training to include ADHOC query within 60 days of appointment.
Qualifications
For the GS-05:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the (GS-04) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing automated systems for scheduling customers, recording maintenance deficiencies, or maintaining logbooks and utilization data in order to maintain training tank facility operations.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successfully completed four years of education above high school level.
OR
Combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
