You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the NAVY CLOSURE TASK FORCE - RED HILL of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.

Duties

You will serve as the action officer for planning and execution of local engagement and outreach efforts. You will coordinate event planning and strategic communications for an activity. You will develop social media and internet-based engagement strategies and tactics to support a communication campaign. You will maintain contact with representatives of the press, radio, and television to alert them of new developments in the organization. You will respond to inquiries from news media, general public, or other organizations. You will write updates and releases of information to community leaders and groups about current agency activities within the command and in the local community.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning and executing strategic goals and objectives of a communication plan or public affairs program for a Command; 2) Supporting community engagements and other public affairs outreach efforts to a wide range of audiences; 3) Maintaining official websites, social media accounts, and/or content management systems for public affairs information dissemination; and 4) Writing speeches, news articles, and/or briefs to disseminate information.
