The employee of this position is under the immediate supervision of the Mechanical Shop Foreman located in the Engineering Service Line at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina. The incumbent of this position is a working leader of Mechanical Shop of Engineering Service, in this capacity their assigns jobs and duties, as directed by the Mechanical Shop Foreman to air conditioning mechanics, Maintenance Mechanic, Pipefitters, Maintenance Worker.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: You must be in good physical condition to perform assigned work. Physical efforts, such as walking, climbing, crawling, and bending, and strains such as working in confining spaces or in crouching or stopping positions for extended period of time are encountered much of the time. The incumbent is required to perform work from elevated platforms, ladders, and/or man-lifts. Work areas may be located at extreme heights. Must have color vision, good hearing, and manual dexterity. May work in adverse weather conditions.
