About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Duties
Conduct novel, cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research and analysis in support of topics related to operations in the cyber domain.
Teach introductory to advanced level undergraduate courses in your discipline to include advising students on capstones, theses, and independent research.
Work on cyber-related research and analysis projects in small teams comprised of soldiers and civilians, while integrating with cross-team research labs.
Develop and leverage partnerships through outreach that will benefit the Army Cyber community and support the Army Cyber Institute (ACI’s) mission.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position may be subject to a one year trial period.

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Academic accomplishment in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cyber Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Operations Research, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Systems Engineering, Political Science, International Relations, Economics, or other Cyber-Related field with significant coursework in Security Studies and Cyber Issues (a master's degree or higher is preferred); 2) Ability to teach Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited curriculums in a United States Military Academy (USMA) academic department as a faculty member and to mentor cadet research along with analysis projects; 3) Demonstrated ability to conduct independent and collaborative, novel cyber-related research and analysis in their discipline; 4) Demonstrated potential to contribute analysis, prototype software, product development, and research and development to generate innovative capabilities; 5) Ability to create collaborative relationships and foster communication with individuals in academic, governmental, non-profit organizations, and private industry. 6) Experience and ability to create cyber-related curriculum within your discipline for inclusion in existing courses or in the creation of a new course.
