This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Miami Division, Diversion Group (Miami), Weston, FL. This position(s) primary purpose is to serve as a Registration Program Specialist which is the key resource office level with multi-state jurisdictions, for all registration applicants authorized to handle drugs in accordance with the Controlled Substance Act (CSA).

As a Registration Program Specialist your typical work assignments may include: Serving as the registration representative and sole point of contact for the license registration program in a geographic region. Reviewing all registration transactions to verify the internal control process has been followed, such as examining all registration transactions and rejecting those not completed in compliance with agency standards and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Maintaining liaison by phone and correspondence with state licensing boards and registration agencies. Conducting presentations and training sessions about DEA's Registration Program and process to the registrant community. Answering questions about a wide variety of registration requirements, procedures, and problems.

Requirements

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent.to the GS-07. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes: GS-09: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) preparing reports and correspondence; 2) interpreting and advising on regulations, agency rules or standards; 3) analyzing information; and 4) identifying and resolving issues or problems. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirement for the GS-09 level may be met by a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full academic years of graduate level education leading to such a degree or a LL.B or J.D. degree, if related. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. GS-11: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) analyzing and retrieving criminal history reports from investigative databases; 2) conducting presentations or training sessions; 3) preparing written material to document research findings; 4) advising current and potential diversion registration program registrants on federal, state, or local regulations. OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirement for the GS-11 level may be met by a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond two years by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Competencies: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competencies in the following areas: Database Management SystemsOral CommunicationProblem SolvingWriting Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
