As an Architect, at the full performance level you will performs review and assessment of design development documents, including the resolution of complex design problems, as well as the preparation of documents for agency officials, client agencies, and contract architect-engineering Architect/Engineer (A/E) firms.Location of position: GSA, PBS Northwest Arctic Region, Design and Construction Division
We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Duties
Conducts site investigations to determine feasibility, topography, and site configuration or condition of structure and essential data prior to initiating design. Evaluates data obtained, incorporating relevant features into design solutions.
Prepares detailed fee estimates used for negotiating with A/E firms for design services and all pertinent correspondence, plans, reports, and A/E contract criteria necessary for project completion involving complexarchitectural needs or issues.
Meets with contractors, manufacturers' representatives, and Government agency representatives to establish requirements.
Evaluates design and construction objectives and identifies the optimal procedures for renovation, design, and construction, including in-house design and/or use of an A/E firm.

The GS-9 salary range starts at $61,275 for Portland, OR; $57,118 for Spokane, WA; $63,526 for Seattle or Tacoma, WA per year.
The GS-11 salary range starts at $74,137 for Portland, OR; $69,107 for Spokane, WA; $76,860 for Seattle or Tacoma, WA per year.
The GS-12 salary range starts at $88,860 for Portland, OR; $82,830 for Spokane, WA; $92,123 for Seattle or Tacoma, WA per year.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ARCHITECTS: A Degree in architecture or related field; OR a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience. For specifics on qualifying education, training, and/or experience - use the following link: Basic Requirements for Architect Positions.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, for the GS-09 you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is progressively responsible professional architecture experience in the design and construction of projects involving buildings or major building systems of moderate complexity (commercial facilities); or assisting in the coordination of the activities of architects, engineers, tenants and construction contractors on such projects. Such experience must also include having assisted in managing projects and/or portions of projects requiring the services of multiple disciplines from the project initiation phase through project closeout.
In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, for the GS-11 you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is professional architecture experience in the design and construction of projects involving large (in excess of 15,000 square feet) and complex buildings (buildings that house either multiple tenants or multiple functions) or major building systems; or the coordination of the activities of architects, engineers, tenants and construction contractors on such projects. Such experience must also include having independently managed projects and/or large portions of projects requiring the services of multiple disciplines from the project initiation phase through project closeout.
In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, for the GS-12 you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is professional architecture experience in the design and construction of projects involving large (in excess of 25,000 square feet) and complex buildings (Court Houses with special security requirements to include sally ports, prisoner holding cells, protection of judges, specialized building systems or specialized laboratory facilities) or major building systems; or the coordination of the activities of architects, engineers, tenants and construction contractors on such projects. Such experience must also include having independently managed projects and/or large portions of projects requiring the services of multiple disciplines from the project initiation phase through project closeout.
