You will serve as a Safety & Occupational Health Specialist in the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Office of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH.

Duties
You will be responsible for the development and issuance of local safety and health instructions for control of hazardous materials.
You will ensure conformance with NAVSEA policy and strict adherence with all other federal agencies, regulations, state and local statues.
You will develop surveillance criteria and audit plans for conducting audits to determine the effectiveness of the detachments and contractor's occupational safety and health programs.
You will provide consulting services to detachment departments/offices, contractors, Ships Force to ensure the effectiveness of existing/proposed measures for the reduction or elimination of employee health hazards.
You will identify health hazards to employees in the work place.
You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Reviewing and interpreting occupational safety and health regulations to determine their applicability. 2) Performing research and developing resolutions of occupational health problems. 3) Reviewing and implementing changes to fire prevention plans. 4) Collecting data to develop recommendations for reduction/elimination of health hazards. 5) Developing and conducting occupational safety and health training. 6) Conducting surveys evaluating shipbuilding operations to ensure compliance of safety standards and regulations. 7) Reviewing safety and health regulations and policies to determine their effectiveness in reducing/controlling employee health hazards
