About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable This position is with 7th SIG CMD (T) 21st SIG BDE 114th SIG BN, located at Adams, PA

Duties

Responsible for formal operational status reporting sent to higher headquarters regarding ASA-DET circuits and systems. Responsible for the accuracy, timeliness and pertinence of reports received from peer units. Monitors and ensures the activities of junior shift personnel are IAW policies and directives of the command. Evaluates communication circuits/systems/networks and equipment periodically using appropriate test equipment. Conducts fault isolation, repair and troubleshooting of the systems associated with circuits and systems in multiple facilities. Provides on-the-job training and technical assistance to all newly assigned personnel. Conducts operations and maintenance activities of the telecommunications and facilities systems within several telecommunications facilities. Conducts technical repair and installation activities to ensure the continuity of communications services, operational capabilities, facilities maintenance, administrative, and physical security of multiple major transmission systems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by troubleshooting and testing equipment associated with circuits and systems; installing and repairing various communication band and satellite equipment; operating various types of communication equipment (i.e., terrestrial, satellite based, digital base band, and cryptographic equipment) OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
