This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia.
Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Program Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with Administration for Children and Families, Office of Regional Operations, to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Serves as a principal advisor to the Regional Administrator and/or ORO Associate Director on crosscutting strategic initiatives and policy issues, facilitates, and improves the internal coordination and communication process in the Region(s).
Provides expert advisory, analytical, and coordinate services to the Regional Administrator/ORO Associate Director, on highly sensitive and complex matters affecting state human services agencies.
Establishes long-range strategic plans in order to advance established agency initiatives, and legislative mandates, etc.
Develops a wide variety of new information through the analysis, evaluation and interpretation of various Federal and State legislation with an impact on ACF initiatives and programs.

Qualifications
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.
Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):
A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts)
OR
B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript)
OR
C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
AND
Specialized Experience:
GS-14: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the duties listed below:
Conducting special studies, assessments, and/or evaluations of programs and operations.
Preparing briefing materials and/or talking papers for management in preparation for appearances and speeches.
Developing information explaining organizational policy and/or viewpoint on assigned program areas.
NOTE: Education and experience may be combined for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
