You will serve as a TOOLMAKER LEADER in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will demonstrate proper work methods. You will ensure safe work practices and good housekeeping while assuring timely tool, equipment, material, and procedure availability. You will utilize information from blueprints, sketches, and work documents to plan and execute the sequence of work tasks. You will keep the first line supervisor informed of problems associated with these items. You will perform work in radiological areas and use tools, materials, and equipment specified in nuclear technical documents.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSTRUCT I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: experience planning work schedules, setting shop priorities, and utilizing knowledge of toolmaker theories and principles in the performance of duties; experience providing on the job training and instruction on proper use of equipment and ensure safe work practices. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including applying the correct toolmaker work methods and processed are applied on a daily basis. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection I have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including utilizing toolmaking systems and equipment.
