This position will serve in the NIST/OSHE/GSHED Environmental Management Group providing support in environmental regulatory compliance efforts, facilitation of the NIST Environmental Management System (EMS), and Sustainability efforts at NIST.

Duties

Management of environmental programs at NIST including but not limited to NEPA, Air Pollution Control Program, Hazardous Waste Program, Oil Control Program, Drinking and Waste Water Program, and Stormwater Management Program. Provide professional technical support in the day-to-day management of environmental compliance efforts including the management of non-radioactive hazardous waste materials and environmental monitoring tasks. Provide guidance and assistance during on-site chemical spill/release response; spill prevention and control, conservation efforts and other environmental compliance tasks. Support of the NIST EMS.

Qualifications

To qualify, for this position applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade ZA-III, or GS-13. Specialized experience must include the following activities: Managing regulatory environmental compliance relating to hazardous waste and materials management, spill prevention, control and countermeasures, air pollution monitoring and control, storm water pollution prevention, underground storage tanks, general conservation/sustainability efforts, permitting, auditing, and reporting; NEPA reviews. Managing Environmental Management Systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
