Duties

Major Duties Summary: At GS-07 assists with the development of new and updating of existing publications such as activity schedules, maps, flyers, and brochures. At GS-09 leads with the development of new and updating of existing publications such as activity schedules, maps, flyers, and brochures. At GS-07 assists with the park's Digital Strategy/ social media including website content, editorial calendar and social media posts. At GS-09 leads with the park's Digital Strategy/ social media including website content, editorial calendar and social media posts. Maintains and organizes the park's digital image collection including integrating new images. Uses content and visual information to create materials to be used by front-line staff and web-based content such as table-top displays and banners, videos, posters. At Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CUVA) duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/08/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. - AND- To qualify for this position, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: GS-07 Level: Must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes but is not limited to the following: Applying technical proficiency in creating web pages, app content, or social media posts based on content produced by other staff; Planning the preparation and use of visual aspects of printed materials such as books, handouts, bulletins, etc. for use in communicating information through visual means; Participating in teams that produce web content, social media, and visual media projects. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- Successful completion one full year of graduate level education with major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must submit a copy of your transcript. -OR- Superior Academic Achievement based on 1) class standing, 2) grade-point average, or 3) honor society membership. Specific requirements are: 1) Class Standing: Upper third of graduating class based on completed courses; 2a) Grade Point Average: 3.0 or higher as recorded on official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education; 2b) based on courses completed during the final full 2 years of curriculum; or 2c) 3.5 or higher based on average of courses completed in the specific major field of study; or 3) Honor Society Membership: Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society listed in the Association of College Honor Societies, Booklet of Information, and/or Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities (membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision). Degree must be directly related to the occupation, (see Education section). You must include a copy of your transcripts. -OR- Successful completion a combination of specialized experience and graduate study. The total must equal at least 100 percent in order to meet this description. GS-09 level: Must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to the following: Working directly with park staff and partners in developing and maintaining web pages and app content using the NPS Content Management System; Developing and producing visual products for print and/or web pages using public software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere); Creating audio-visual, print, or other visual products that convey park interpretive themes and engage a wide audience. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Master's degree must be in major studies - commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion a combination of specialized experience and graduate study. The total must equal at least 100 percent in order to meet this description. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
