These positions are located in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, in the Division of Visitor, Fire and Resource Protection.

Duties
Multiple positions are being recruited in both Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and for the Interagency Visitor Center in Inyo County. Positions include:
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by 11:59 EST when the applicant cut-off is reached (which may be sooner than 12/01/2023).
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
SELECTIVE FACTOR (GS-05 only): Selectees must possess, or be able to obtain prior to entry on duty, a National Registry Emergency Medical Responder (NREMR) certification or higher (or state equivalent with the ability to obtain an NREMR certification). Certification MUST be reflected in application packet. NOTE: Wilderness First Responder (WFR) does NOT meet this standard.

To qualify for this position at the GS-04 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized work experience. Examples of general experience may include working in any administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible field that provided you with a familiarity of natural or cultural history; techniques of resource protection and use; recreational use of public lands and facilities; enforcement of laws, rules, or regulations; or the practice of interpersonal relations skills in dealing with the general public. Examples of specialized experience may include working at a visitor center information desk answering visitor questions that are routine and repetitive pertaining to geographical location of campgrounds, picnic areas, boating areas and other recreational areas; or answering visitor's questions at an entrance station and explaining regulations covering common park use situations, such as campground reservations and rules, collection of fees and selling of permits. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 2 years of education above high school (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) with 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of related coursework. Related education includes: natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours (or equivalent) of education above high school and divide by 60 semester hours (or equivalent). Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include hours per week worked and transcripts.
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: explaining regulations to park visitors; providing information and advice on park activities and resources; collecting fees; issuing reservations and permits; conducting guided tour programs; maintaining recreation facilities or trails; or monitoring special recreation permits. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 4 years of progressively higher level undergraduate education leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent undergraduate degree with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. At least 24 semester hours must be directly related to the position. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours (or equivalent) earned towards a bachelor's degree, in excess of 60 semester hours, and divide by 60 semester hours (or equivalent). Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include hours per week worked and transcripts.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection.
