This position is serves the Colorado River Service Unit including four off site health centers and a satellite clinic. The Nurse (Occupational Health) responsible for treating occupational medical and health emergencies, addressing hazard conditions in the work place, administers routine health prevention and screening programs, and refers more complicated medical cases to the appropriate physician or health facility. This position reports directly to the Infection Control Director.
Duties
Performs and provides primary care assessment, diagnosis, and implementation of treatment plans according to authorized medical standing orders (MSO) and standardized medical protocols for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
Provides acute care services that include medical emergencies where the employee is given the attention required to prevent loss of life or limb or to relieve suffering until he/she can be referred to a treatment facility.
Works closely with building managers; advises them of unsafe or hazardous conditions.
Conducts the preliminary portion of all physical examinations completed in the main occupational health unit that includes taking occupational, and medical histories.
Performs the specialized health screening procedures audiograms, vision performance tests, blood glucose levels, and cancer screenings.
Initiates appropriate laboratory test and x-rays according to written protocols.
Reviews medical records and physical examinations for completeness and accomplishment of appropriate follow-up and health teaching.
Works in prevention health education programs and counseling aimed at prevention of disease and promote health maintenance. Administers appropriate immunizations required for anti-flu campaigns recognizing the symptoms of anaphylactic shock and initiation of appropriate treatment.
Maintains liaison with, serves as a consultant to, and makes presentations to occupational health nurses in other agencies, outside health organizations, and professional associations regarding the expanded role of occupational health nurses.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field: OR
Treating occupational medical and health emergencies, addressing hazard conditions in the work place, administers routine health prevention and screening programs, and refers more complicated medical cases to the appropriate physician or health facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Develop policies and procedures for employee health and ensure compliance with accreditation requirements. Manage employee health records, collect/monitor/evaluate employee health data and prepare reports for Clinical Committees and Quality Improvement.
