This position serves as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader for the Maintenance & Operations section in the Facilities Management Service at the Veterans Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System directing the work of up to 6 Maintenance Mechanics/Workers in two or more of the following trades: Electricial, Maintenance Mechanic, & Masonry
Duties
As Maintenance Mechanic Leader, you will:
Disseminate and communicate supervisor instruction to Team
Provide plans, blueprints, materials, and tools
Develop patterns and lay out, cut, form, join, assemble, and install items such as heating, air conditioning, and ventilation pipe conduits; drying ovens; airframes, air scoops; control and flying surfaces, metal furniture; and combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves and planes
Manage work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines
Report status and progress of work to supervisor
Work along side, setting the pace, and demonstrate proper work methods for the installation, maintaining, and repair of complex equipment, and systems involving power boilers with complicated components, critical requirements, and rigid tolerances.
Work along side, setting the pace, and demonstrate proper work methods for the installation, modification, repair, maintaining, troubleshoot, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
Work along side, setting the pace, and demonstrate proper work methods for the installation and troubleshooting causes of faulty equipment, and making repairs on large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulating.
Serves as technical advisor and mentor to Team
Holds delegated authority to approve leave

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: You must be in good physical condition to perform assigned work. The work requires a considerable amount of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and/or uncomfortable positions. Carries, lifts, and handles parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is performed inside and outside with exposure to all kinds of weather. The work area may be dirty, wet, dusty, and greasy. You will be subject to cuts, abrasions, burns, broken bones, electrical shock, infections, bites, exposure to inhalation of harmful chemical fumes, irritation of eyes, etc. You may be required to wear protective clothing.
