Duties
Serves as the second level supervisory position that participates fully in the overall direction, planning, and supervision of all phases of assigned depot Preservation, Packaging, Packing Marking branch activities.
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the work of wage grade employees associated with woodworking and crating/preservation work environment.
Responsible for planning, directing, and scheduling work assignments on a weekly or monthly basis.
Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures for the several types of work supervised.
Redirects workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work and to accommodate daily workload fluctuations.
Notes and investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity to determine their causes.

Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
Ability to Supervise: Plan, organize, and direct all work activities for subordinate personnel to meet established goals and deadline. Examples Include: Maintain production reports to meet goals and deadline, develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and directives to improve work operations; develop and conduct training for personnel on safety operations and overall work assignments; schedule leave and approve short periods of leave for subordinates; recommend promotion, performance requirements, reassignments and disciplinary actions to supervisor before initiating; counsel personnel on problems and take informal corrective action on conduct and performance problems; resolve minor grievances.
