Duties

Establishing Family Program objectives, goals and priorities Initiating, developing and implementing policy and regulatory guidance regarding Family Programs Interpreting and adapting guidance, regulations, policies and laws as they pertain to Family Programs Determining social support needs for the Command Volunteer recruitment, coordination and management Providing information and advice on readiness program issues, benefits and entitlements Oversees and administers family program budget and expenditures

The basic requirement is as follows: Degree: successful completion of a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. And Specialized Experience required: This position has a specialized experience requirement that does not allow education substitution. The specialized experience is as follows: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating a family support program (such as family readiness groups, family/volunteer recognition, participation, and community partnership); provide supervision, guidance, advice and technical assistance to employees, managers, organizations and/or families on programs to improve both duty and family life; arrange and/or provide briefings, orientations, or trainings; and track and report information using a variety of automated systems, oversees and administers family programs budget and expenditures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
