This position is located in Bushland, TX with the United States Department of Agriculture within the Agricultural Reseach Services serving with the Location and Support Staff Unit.
The primary purpose of the position is to maintain fleet readiness and automotive equipment.
Duties
Develops and carries out a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for gasoline and diesel farm tractors and a variety of other farm equipment.
Communicates with employees on maintenance and repairs for field services, equipment, and facility.
Maintains and repairs automotive fleet vehicles, including vehicles; farm equipment, and small equipment such as weed whackers, chainsaws, and lawnmowers.
Maintains, Inspects, and updates Underground Storage Tanks (UST) monitoring system used for fuel.
Uses electrical diagrams to trace and test automotive direct current electrical systems in farm tractors and battery-operated
equipment components such as feed mixing scales.
Using electrical testing equipment, locates and tests for defects and short circuits and checks for correct voltage,
amperage, resistance, etc. Utilizing wiring diagrams, schematics, layout sheets, manufacturers' specifications, etc.
Make written reports as to the general conditions of the equipment with the specific recommendation for major overhaul or replacement.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
