Duties
The job involves performing carpentry repairs, constructing, installing, repairing, and replacing items like doors, shelves, hardware, and cabinets using simple measuring devices and hand and power tools. The role also includes painting of limited difficulty using brush and roller according to written work orders or verbal instructions on projects where appearances are not critical. Plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures and replacing faucet washers, unplugging drains using a plunger, and replacing liquid petroleum gas bottles are part of the job. Performing electrical tasks of limited difficulty such as replacing light switches, household light fixtures, changing light bulbs, troubleshooting, and assisting electrician as needed. Patching and repairing roofs, performing routine maintenance on campground sites and trails, cleaning and servicing chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities, and collecting trash are also included in the job responsibilities. The supervisor or a higher-graded employee provides specific instructions in the form of work orders, outlining the work to be done, and the materials and methods to be used in accomplishing the work. The role also involves receiving, unloading, and processing incoming shipments according to established procedures, and reporting discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items. Operating a light truck to pick up supplies and transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work is another part of the job. Performing a variety of other duties like painting equipment, welding, assisting higher-grade worker with maintenance of utility systems in the facility, including sewer and electrical distribution, trails and grounds work, and asphalt work and road maintenance by repairing pavement surfaces are also included in the job responsibilities. Must be able to perform back country boating operations.
