This position is in Nutrition and Food Service located at Charlie Norwood Veterans HealthCare Systems (CNVHCS). Its primary duty is to maintain ingredient control room and other responsibilities as assigned.
Duties
The duties of this position includes but not limited to:
Participates in functional operation of the Ingredient Control Unit, which includes receiving, storing, stocking, rotating, labeling, dating foods/non-food supplies accurately and security of all food and non-food supplies associated with the position
Verifies food and non-food supplies with the purchase orders specifications quality and condition
Issues all foods required by the cooks tabulated recipe list, packaging information and master menu as reference material.
Replenishes daily ward supplies, sets up Cook's cart for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a timely fashion in accordance with the menu.
Completes daily physical inventory of bread, milk, and juices.
Processes a monthly documented inventory on all subsistence in the freezers, refrigerators and ingredient storeroom areas.
Maintains walk-in freezer/refrigerator temperature logs.
Handles all foods in accordance with established standards of sanitation and safety using a HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) system.
Responsible for general housekeeping and sanitation of ingredient room, all walk-in refrigerators/ freezer and all storage areas including shelving, walls, floors, etc.
Maintains equipment in an orderly clean and sanitary condition and operates all equipment observing safety regulations.
Work Schedule: Full time; 5 days a week, 6:00am- 2:30 pm/ 6:30am-3:00pm ; Rotating Schedule and weekends. Subject to change depending on the needs of the agency.

Physical Requirements: Wage Grade 4 Food Service Workers perform work requiring light to moderate physical effort. They may be required to perform heavy work, such as scouring and scrubbing large size cooking utensils and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. They are subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. They frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 40 pounds with the assistance of others.
