The incumbent of this office serves as an administrative support person to Patient Care Service and is dedicated to providing time and leave records for Patient Care Service.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for ensuring that staffing schedules are accurate and timely; post timecards, verifies leaves, tardiness, scheduled days off and overtime/compensatory time. Initiates and maintains processes for tracking leave used for each employee. Maintains current Time and Attendance records electronically using VISTA/KEA menus on all assigned nursing personnel. Prepares bi-weekly certified time schedules for assigned staff and quarterly reports for review by management. Proofs certified time schedules for accuracy according to plan submitted. Responds for requests from employees, mangers and Human Resources to report final leave statements for separated employee and perfect attendance records for annual awards. Applies knowledge of personal computer and local system software functions to produce and update a wide variety of documents that often require complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts and update or revise existing databases or spreadsheets requiring use of advanced software functions to enhance productivity or meet needs of complex format and function keys for performing a substantial range of functions within each software. Skills in operating computers and computer programs including but not limited to Excel, Micro words, PowerPoint, VISTA and CPRS. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm Monday through Friday Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/30/2023. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1.) Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. 2.) Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 3.) Specifies goals and obstacles to achieving those goals, generates alternatives, considers risks, and evaluates and chooses the best alternative in order to make a determination, draw conclusions or solve a problem. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed 4 years' education above high-school. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary; however incumbent is required to travel throughout the Medical Center and CBOCs on an as needed basis in the accomplishment of his/her duties.
