About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. Employees work a 4/10 work week, Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and daily childcare available. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center, (Mass transportation is available at minimal cost.) Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Duties

Operate a gasoline or diesel powered truck tractor with tanker transporter unit coupled by a turntable (fifth wheel). Operate motor vehicle with gross which weight of approximately 27.000 pounds equipped with vacuum system to remove accumulated sludge and sand from stopped up industrial waste lines at points located ahead of distribution lines. Operate motor vehicle with gross vehicle weight of approximately 15,000 pounds in transporting various material, equipment, and drums of industrial waste to and from various depot locations. Performs a material handling function at a receiving operation.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position requires the incumbent to comply with the Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
• Position subject to realignment/movement within the Mission organization due to changing mission requirements.
• Position is required to assist (on assignment) other personnel or organizations requiring additional temporary manpower.
• This is a Term position scheduled to last NTE 8 Years.
• Must obtain and maintain a Commerical Driver's License (CDL) and pass bi-annual CDL physicals to maintain a CDL License.

I can operate motor vehicle, in transporting various material, equipment, and drums of industrial waste to and from various locations. I am skilled in making various hoses and hose hookups and operates electric pump and control valves to transfer industrial waste from holding areas to industrial waste tank truck. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT- Work requires reaching, bending, turning, and moving of hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate vehicle controls. There is frequent lifting of items in excess of 45 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in all types of weather, in an enclosed cab and occasionally incumbent is exposed to bad weather during loading and unloading operation. Incumbent is exposed to the usual traffic hazards and may receive minor cuts and bruises while loading and unloading vehicles.
