This position performs a variety of significant administrative, analytical, evaluative work and technical functions, tasks and special projects in support of the Deputy District Director Leadership Team, who provides direct oversight to the operations of the Readjustment Counseling Service (RCS) provided at the Vet Centers within District Zone. This position is in the assigned District Director Office and the incumbent reports to the assigned Deputy District Director.

Duties

The position acts as an organizational resource person providing various information to field and Leadership staff, support to the various RCS programs, performing a variety of special administrative tasks, resolving and assisting a variety of challenges with Vet Center and District staff, and projects as assigned by the supervisor. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (tour of duty may vary depending on needs of organization) Compressed/Flexible: May be Available (based on supervisor's approval) Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/04/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: utilizing initiative in carrying out the recurring work of the office independently, referring only significant issues and unfamiliar situations not covered by instructions to the supervisor for help; serving as a central point of contact to provide authoritative explanations of requirements, regulations, and procedures, and to resolve operational problems or disagreements affecting assigned areas; advising managers of a single-function field office on the practical and technical aspects of office administration, to include budgeting, purchasing, supply management, personnel administration, data processing, and files management, and performs staff support work (i.e., clerical work involving the processing or maintenance of records or documents which represent the transactions or business of an organization) in each of these areas. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform this work. Work is accomplished with the incumbent sitting at a desk or table but may involve some walking, standing, lifting, bending, and carrying of light items.
