This position is located in the Domiciliary Residential and Treatment Program (DRRTP) at the Greater Los Angeles Health Care System, in Los Angeles, CA, and provides extended care to veterans with complex medical psychiatric, alcohol and drug abuse; and homelessness.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Assist in the operation of the domiciliary living units by providing direct resident care and administrative support to domiciliary residents. Assures resident compliance with health, safety, and sanitation directives as they pertain to living quarters, treatment areas, TV rooms, multi-purpose rooms, etc. Modifies and directs resident's behavior and assists in therapeutic rehabilitation programs as a member of a treatment team. Assist in the operation of the domiciliary living units by providing direct resident care and administrative support to domiciliary residents. Identifies behaviors or medical conditions that require intervention and treatment. Monitors resident's progress toward the objectives of the treatment plan, and progress being made by the resident. Consults with treatment team in cases where there is question regarding resident's ability to leave facility. Resolves the resident's problem or makes referral to the appropriate staff or program. Documents and coordinates problems toward their resolution with appropriate clinical or administrative staff. Prepares forms for resident activities such as referrals, consultation clearances, and discharges. Reviews admission screening information on new admissions and becomes familiar with resident history, diagnosis, psycho-social status and any special precautions. Ensures appropriate documentation of team activities regarding residents, preparation of overall treatment plan, and ensures that follow-up on treatment plans occurs. Documents information in medical record and prepares required forms associated with resident passes/authorized absences for emergencies Orders furniture and replacements, when necessary, from Program Assistant. Initiates administrative activities pertaining to the functioning of treatment teams, including appropriate resident/team scheduling. Approves/disapproves resident passes. Refers residents requesting authorized absence over the limit authorized by the position for medical/psychological clearance. Other related duties as assigned. ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. EXPERIENCE: One full year of experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience includes: Group leader in community or residential recreation or training programs. Counselor in a youth summer camp. Instructor in a training program for the development of job skills. Work that demonstrated the ability to be responsible for and to lead and train members of a job crew. Group activities leader in the Armed Services. Unit leader-monitor-proctor for a dormitory group in a boarding school or other residential facility. Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff in such fields as personnel (private or government), employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution, social service, or manpower development. Aid or assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private, public welfare, government program, or community organizations, or in voluntary activities. Aid or assistant to professional or specialist staff working with individuals who are addicted to or abuse alcohol and/or drugs. NOTE: Resume(s) must clearly support the required experience and support responses provided to the online questionnaire to receive credit. ~OR~ SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have successfully completed at least one-half year of graduate level education (9 semester hours above a Bachelor's degree) or an internship in course matter that must include courses directly related to the work of this position. ~OR~ COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): I have equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience, as described above, to meet the total experience requirement. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Clinical Data Collection/DocumentationConflict ManagementDecision MakingPatient Care IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortable to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
