This position is located in the El Paso Resident Office reporting to the Office of Field Office Management, Domestic Operations Directorate, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, U.S. Department of State. You will provide expert technical and analytical support to investigative personnel in planning, developing, and assisting in misconduct related to criminal investigations.

Duties

Reviews, evaluates, and recommends methodologies to navigate both classified and unclassified databases to follow trends of criminal violations. Reviews various database links of information to identify criminal activities, trends or methodologies that lead to criminal prosecutions. Examines electronic record checks and evaluations of documents to identify potential leads for investigative caseloads. Prepares memorandum, correspondence, and detailed written reports related to criminal investigations.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using investigative methods to provide analytical and technical support for the planning and execution of investigation. Experience using data resources for evidence collection, analysis, and interpretation. Experience reviewing documentation for fraudulent activities. Experience working with other law enforcement agencies to identify mechanisms to coordinate activities carrying out criminal investigations. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
