These positions are located in the Jackson and Cookeville, TN Area Offices, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an assistant for clerical and administrative activities pertaining to correspondence, budget, purchasing, human resources, timekeeping, travel and related administrative areas for the Jackson and Cookeville, TN Area Offices.

Duties

Responsible for maintaining employee master records, preparing corrected timesheets and conducting leave audits as required. Prepares and processes correspondence, reports and forms, prepares travel vouchers, and security procedures. Receives and distributes mail and email, answers telephone calls, establishes and maintains office files, type letters and other documents, monitors outgoing documentation under supervisor's signature for grammar, format and technical accuracy. Monitors the agreements for quarterly billings, maintains agreement files, and advises leadership of any issues related to agreement performance. Initiates personnel actions to be submitted to the Human Resources Office as instructed by leadership. Conducts annual vehicle inspection report, distributes license plates and charge cards associated with each vehicle, and produces monthly and quarterly reports on vehicles for state office use.

Requirements

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement Including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Specialized Experience for GS-07: To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing a variety of administrative support services in support of a business or program office, assisting in preparing operating budgets, making purchases of office supplies, equipment, vehicle and tracking expenditures, providing timekeeping services and reconciling time and attendance documents, making travel arrangements, and reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence and other administrative documents. Specialized Experience for GS-08: To qualify for the GS-08 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: performing a variety of administrative support services in support of a business or program office, preparing operating budgets for review, making purchases of office supplies and equipment and tracking expenditures, providing timekeeping services and reconciling time and attendance documents, making travel arrangements and reviewing travel reimbursement claims, and reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence and other administrative documents. Note: There is no education substitution for the GS-07 or GS-08 level.
