About the Position: Incumbent works under the general supervision of the Regional Command Judge Advocate in the Medical Readiness Command (MRC), U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM).

Duties

Independently manages the office administrative operations. Establishes and maintains systems of legal records for the Region Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA) hardcopy files and information system file directories. Composes and prepares correspondence and other materials using correct format, spelling, and grammar. Serves as liaison for civilian and military personnel matters. Manages CJA calendar for activities, to include conferences, meetings, briefings, office calls, leave, travel and ceremonies. Participates in the substantive development of case files. Coordinates the command Government Ethics Program. Manages the Region Gift Acceptance Programs. Coordinates with military justice advisor or appropriate military justice personnel on military justice related matters.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting laws and regulations; reviewing principles, concepts, and/or methods of legal research and analysis; preparing legal papers; conducting summaries of legal analysis; and providing technical oversight in a legal setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Legal Studies, Criminal Justice-Law, and Law. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
