You will serve as a Transportation Assistant in the Material Readiness Department, Warehouse Operations - Crane of Naval Sea Systems Command Logistics Center, Keyport Division, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (NAVSEALOGCENKYPTDIVNUWC MECH PA) located at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane, Indiana.

Duties

You will use established procedures and standing route orders to arrange for shipment of or general freight for Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Transportation Contracts (air and surface), Domestic Freight Routing Requests, and Export Release freight. You will recommend changes in routing and/or mode of transportation for more economical rates to meet required delivery dates. You will verify hazardous freight for shipment. You will assist in packing and repacking a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous items. You will determine the need for and pack materials using protective devices, cushioning techniques for custom packing, and preservation materials.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing transportation support functions to ensure appropriate techniques and procedures for shipment.
