You will serve as a Public Safety Dispatcher in the Security Department, Provost Marshal's Office of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will respond appropriately to a high volume of telephone and radio communications to receive and resolve reports in an all hazard environments. You will obtain the information necessary to dispatch widely dispersed first responder units including police, firefighting, rescue, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Hazmat and CBRNE resources for emergency and non-emergency situations. You will extract information, quickly and accurately analyze situations, and choose an effective course of action from reporting parties. You will maintain a professional demeanor while handling sensitive, provocative, emergency and non-emergency calls/transmissions that may be life threatening in nature. You will perform multiple tasks simultaneously such as receive, document, and disseminate information accurately in both written and oral forms.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position requires the incumbent to become and maintain certified in the department approved EMD protocols which require a minimum of 24 hours of EMD related continuing education bi-annually.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You are required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Conducting emergency multi-phone line and radio operations; 2) Using "Enhanced 911 system", multiple high-volume automated telecommunication systems; 3) Assessing and prioritizing incoming emergency calls; and 4) Ascertaining the nature of emergency in order to dispatch appropriate emergency vehicles under high volume and stressful circumstances. GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Dispatching emergency vehicles including police, fire, and medical services personnel for unique situations (e.g., involving a variety of complex technologies, multiple casualties, prolonged hazardous materials incidents); 2) Questioning callers to determine nature of calls, record data, analyze and prioritize situations, and dispatch appropriate emergency personnel and equipment; 3) Providing pre-arrival and post-dispatch instructions to callers to prepare for the arrival of emergency personnel; and 4) Using "Enhanced 911 system", multiple high-volume automated telecommunication systems.
