Duties

You will operate motor vehicles with an approximate gross weight up to 32,000 pounds when transporting hazardous waste or materials. You will follow safety practices and procedures in the operation of vehicles. You will follow transportation-related instructions, publications, rules, and regulations (e.g. local, state, federal) when driving vehicles. You will load or unload vehicles inside buildings or at loading docks.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. Class A CDL driver's license and endorsements based on job requirements.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. and annually thereafter.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • Required to have P (Passenger), X (tanker) license endorsements, H (Hazardous Material), and/or S (School Bus) license endorsements obtained within 180 days of onboarding.
  • Position is designated as DTP, Drug Testing Position and is subject to random drug tests.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance based on a T3 or T3R Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) in the performance of the duties of this position, every 10 years.
  • Incumbent serving in this position may at anytime reassigned to a similar position at any site or workstation in the commuting area as a condition of employment.
  • May be assigned to perform tasks in a non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.
  • May be required to serve on-call on a rotational basis. When on-call, incumbent is required to carry a duty cell phone and duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hours emergencies within two hours.
  • This position is considered essential and the incumbent will be required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during, and/or after special emergency situations.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including 1) Driving vehicles such as, semi-tractor-trailers, heavy duty flatbed trucks, heavy fuel tank trucks, heavy straight in-line trucks, heavy duty tow trucks, heavy vacuum trucks, crane trucks, and heavy duty waste disposal/trash collection trucks; 2) Loading, unloading and arranging of cargo; 3) Follow safety rules and regulations, pertinent to the driving mission. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Selective Placement Factor: This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: a valid Class A Commercial Drivers License. PLEASE INCLUDE A COPY OF YOUR LICENSE WITH YOUR APPLICATION. FAILURE TO PROVIDE A COPY WILL MAKE YOU INELIGIBLE.
