This position is located in the Office of Chief of Program Operations, Department of AmeriCorps Seniors, on the AmeriCorps Seniors Team.

Duties

The Training Specialist serves as authoritative consultant and troubleshooter designing and implementing training programs and activities and providing problem-solving assistance to address program issues. Plans, develops, and evaluates innovative trainings to internal and external stakeholders. This includes but is not limited to our yearly national convening attended by our 1,000+ grantees from across the country and Territories. Creates, implements, administers, and evaluates training curricula and technical assistance activities that reflect program innovations and modifications; Including innovative experiences, for AmeriCorps Seniors audiences, specifically for staff, applicants, and grantees throughout the grant life cycle: pre-award, award, and post-award. Leads the training and technical assistance activities for the AmeriCorps Seniors programs. Creates, implements, administers, and evaluates training materials and provides technical assistance activities for AmeriCorps Seniors' external and internal audiences.

Qualifications

THIS POSITION HAS A BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT. ALL APPLICANTS MUST ALSO MEET THE SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AS DESCRIBED BELOW. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT 1) An undergraduate or graduate degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position being filled. Or 2) Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. College/University transcripts must be provided to verify the Basic Educational Requirement of this position. See OPM's Qualification Standard. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the mid-range of the NY-02 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-9 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience: Applicants must meet at least two of the three following specialized experience: 1. Consulting on training modality and design; 2. Developing and implementing training; 3. Conducting virtual and/or in-person training using remote technology. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.

EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: You may use an education substitution, if you do not meet the experience requirements as described above, and have one of the following:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
