About the Position: As a Supervisory Construction Engineer in the Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the incumbent has responsibility for advising the Area Engineer on all controversial contractual matters and coordinating, controlling, monitoring, and supervising construction contracts.

Duties

Provide technical and office engineering support in the administration of multi-million-dollar construction contracts. Monitor construction activities to ensure that schedules are met, and authorized funds are not exceeded. Coordinate with Resident Engineers and inspectors with respect to interpretation of contract plans and specifications. Perform personnel management functions to guide, direct, and evaluate the technical efforts. Identify and schedule training as needed.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • DAWIA Contracting Professional Certification is required within 36 months of appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires possession of a Professional Registration: Professional Engineering (PE). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
