Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Youth Services Program Specialist you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Maintain regular communication with grantees through correspondence and telephone calls to ensure that grantees are fulfilling the objectives of their grant. Providing support to the process of awarding and monitoring grants and contracts, evaluating proposed or continuing work against specified goals and objectives, facilitating necessary changes, providing technical assistance, and interpreting and applying guidelines. Coordinate with training and technical assistance (T&TA) providers and senior staff technical assistance to grantees that may need to improve their programmatic or organizational practices.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Basic Qualifications: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C): A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts) B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript) C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Minimum Qualifications: In addition to the above Basic Requirement, you must also have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following: Providing youth program advice and assistance to grantees, youth serving professionals, organizations, federal offices and/or the general public. Analyzing, interpreting, advising, providing technical assistance or making recommendations to grantees/contractors on their program plans, applications and program operations for runaway and homeless youth. Reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing the technical performance of grantees. Monitoring grantee activities in planning, administration, assessment and delivery of program services to ensure optimum utilization of funding. OR have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field directly related to the position OR a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
