This position, located at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System in the Facilities Management Serves, serves as a Journeyman Electrician.

Duties
Major Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Provides a wide variety of assigned duties involving installation, modification, repair, troubleshooting, maintenance and testing of complex electoral systems, circuits, equipment, appliances, controls, components, lighting fixtures and fire alarm systems.
Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement, type size, gauge, balance, load continuity, and safe operating of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls.
Determines and places distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections and installs wiring, couplings, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices including electrical service entrances.
Work involving troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.
Plans and lays out work, tracing hard to locate defects or problems, and completes repairs and installations.
Determines location of existing electrical devices and service entrances and places new ones and traces hard to locate defects or problems.
Interprets and applies the National Electrical Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings, and uses trade formulas to calculate common properties and etc.
Complete installations, modifications and repairs and load and test systems circuits, equipment, and controls with little supervision during or upon completion of work.
Responsible for safe and proper operation of systems and equipment, and for compliance with the National Electrical Code.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Physical Requirements: The work requires frequently handling heavy materials and parts weighing in excess of 45 pounds. The work also requires pulling, pushing, reaching, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, bending, and climbing for sustained periods of time. Physical effort is often strenuous and is typical of industrial construction trades.
