Duties
To perform academic faculty duties in the Mathematics Department at the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School. The incumbent will teach and tutor junior college-level mathematics courses across a curriculum consisting of Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus; will plan, develop, and implement same courses, and will work with other department faculty members in areas of curriculum development, integration of technology in mathematics education, effective teaching concepts, and means of enhancing the students' learning process. The incumbent should demonstrate the potential for course leadership, leadership positions within the department, the expertise to participate in the development of the mathematics curriculum, and for service beyond the department. The incumbent will evaluate performance, leadership, and officer potential of cadet candidates and advise students in a classroom environment and on a one-on-one basis to enhance their academic and study skills potential. The incumbent will serve in auxiliary unit positions as established by the Commander, the Academic Dean, or the Department Head; be willing to participate in the military training and physical conditioning of cadet candidates; and will conduct and promote professional development activities to maintain professional currency.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: At a minimum, candidates must possess: 1) an earned Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related discipline and five years of full-time teaching experience; or 2) a relevant master's degree and three years of full-time teaching experience. All candidates must show potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES:
Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related field
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate mathematics instruction with experience and success working with remedial math students. Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching at the high school or post-high school level, who have experience integrating relevant technologies into a mathematics curriculum, and who have a commitment to the success of students of diverse backgrounds and the development of students as "whole persons."
Candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
Leadership experience in curriculum development and academic assessment is desired.
Applicants will be assessed based on education, evidence of teaching effectiveness, quality of scholarship, and demonstrated service to educational institutions and the discipline commensurate with years in the discipline.

EDUCATION:

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a transcript to be considered OFFICIAL, it should be printed on university letterhead and the registrar's official seal/signature must appear on the transcript. Your transcripts must also reflect the degree awarded/conferred date. Transcripts labeled UNOFFICIAL will not be accepted.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
