About the Position: Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) mission statement: To receive, store, ship, produce, renovate and demilitarize conventional ammunition, missiles and related components to meet contingency requirements in support of the warfighter.

Duties

Operate and maintain complex industrial contaminated wastewater treatment systems. Utilize Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to ensure balanced system operations. Respond, investigate and take appropriate corrective action to warning signals from a variety of alarm systems. Maintain technical understanding of the interrelationship of all wastewater treatment operations. Follow standard operational procedures (SOP's) to maintain optimum plant efficiency.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles and must possess and maintain installation driving privileges.
  • Position requires incumbent to possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class C or above with HAZMAT, Tanker and Air Brake endorsements within 6 months of employment.
  • Pre-employment physical required as a condition of employment, prior to appointment, reassignment, or transfer, prior to reporting for duty. Subsequent annual physicals are required. Mental stability examination may be required.
  • Position requires incumbent to work in an “on call” status, including nights, weekends, and holidays if mission required.
  • This position requires applicants to pass a drug test prior to employment and be subject to random drug testing for the duration of employment.
  • This positions requires the ability to frequently lift 55 pounds.
  • This position is designated "Mission Essential."
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator without more than normal supervision. The work of the position normally includes: operating and performing routine operator maintenance on various types of equipment; using various testing equipment and measuring devices; performing routine tests within established parameters; familiar with operating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's); and assisting with hauling other materials on-base locations and off-base locations. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.Operation of Job Family Specify Equipment, Machinery, etc.Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Physical Effort: Work requires considerable walking, standing, climbing ladders, stooping, bending and kneeling. Light to moderate physical effort is necessary to turn valves and controls. Frequently lifts equipment and chemicals weighing in excess of 55 pounds. Working Conditions: Works both inside and outside; operator may be subject to prevailing weather conditions. Potential exposures include: toxic chemicals; energetic material; heat and cold; running motors, pumps and machinery; loud noises; poor ventilation; and frequent exposure to dirty and greasy machinery. Operator is required to work on catwalks and ladders. Follows all prescribed safety practices, and utilizes safety equipment as necessary.
