About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. Employees work a 4/10 work week, Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and daily child care available. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center, (Mass transportation is available at minimal cost.) Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Duties

Determine the proper government transportation systems to move freight to increase the flow of materials to and from various customers Utilize existing automated systems to determine contingency cargo volumes and characteristics, and booking requirements Conduct studies and statistical analyses to measure efficiency and effectiveness of Carriers performance to ensure customer satisfaction is met. Advise internal agency personnel of DOT/Federal Regulations relating to shipping hazardous materials to ensure that all guidelines are being followed.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent is required to obtain a Transportation of Hazardous Material Certification within 18 months of occupying the position.
• This is a Term position scheduled to last {NTE 8 years}. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
• This is a TERM position which is subject to a one year trial period.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of specialized experience which includes; Determining the most economical mode of shipment for material; Preparing and finalizing periodic reports for material shipments; or Reviewing customer requests for shipments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
