Duties
Serve as a work leader for positions that validate, monitor, control and maintain accounting transactions and accounting records.
Identifies, distributes, and balances workload and tasks to team members in accordance with established workflow, and assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload.
Provides training in specific tasks and job techniques, and provides on-the-job training in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Researches and reconciles discrepancies for multiple accounts involving a variety of transactions and multiple systems and/or subsystems to include enterprise resource planning systems.
Responds to routine and non-routine questions from customers or contractors regarding accounting data, discrepancies, and procedures.
Researches current accounts, historical data, or source documents to develop and explain detailed information not otherwise readily available.

Qualifications
This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense via delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Applicants MUST have related financial experience AND/OR a related financial degree (examples include: Finance, Accounting, Management, Actuarial Science, or related), in addition to meeting Office of Personnel Management (OPM) minimum qualification requirements. Substitution of combination of education and experience must still, in conjunction, minimally satisfy the DHA qualification requirement.
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-6) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
GS-07: Specialized experience is defined as: maintaining accounting or financial ledgers; posting financial transactions; preparing financial reports; reconciling accounts and working with a variety of accounting and automated financial systems.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
