This position is located at the Charlie Norwood Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia and provides primary secretarial support and administrative assistance to one or more subspecialty sections within this Service. Incumbent may on occasion be asked to provide secretarial support to the Office of the Chief, Medical Service.
Duties
Provide information about the office, its functions, and the standard operating procedures used within the office
Prioritizes work to assure completion
Edit and compose letters and reports, reviewing correspondence for accuracy and completeness
Have the skill of a qualified typist to perform data entry responsibilities
Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:30pm

Qualifications

TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Skill in operating electric typewriters and various transcription machines. Skill in DHP terminals for logging in, retrieving patient data, processing electronic mail and performing word processing activities. Skill in operating microcomputers, using a standard typewriter style keyboard with additional function keys to produce work accurately and efficiently. Skill in operating related equipment such as printers and modems required . OR,
Education: four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite . OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level
