This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Support Services Specialist, provides comprehensive support services in the areas of event planning, property, contracts, emergency planning and supply/logistic related activities.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Support Services Specialist, GS-0342-12, your typical work assignments may include:
Providing technical advice and guidance for logistics management program processes and development and analysis requirements;
Working with management and planning personnel in preparing requirements and criteria for facility and Laboratory projects or programs;
Aiding in the evaluation of contractor studies and provides technical assistance for the design, development, integration, evaluation, acquisition, and tracking of various systems, supplies, and special items needed for an assigned project;
Staying abreast of current and emerging logistics programs, processes, and technologies throughout the government; and
Evaluating and providing assessment of the contractor's performance in meeting operational requirements, contract
requirements, and core processes.

Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Experience providing technical advice and guidance for logistics management program processes and development and analysis;
Experience assisting with the development of project charters, status reports, and other program and project documents and supports the completion of these documents through the quality management process; and
Experience serving as planner focused on supporting the successful execution of meeting and event logistics, coordinating stakeholder and customer engagement activities, as well as supporting other support relationships for First responder activities and events which requires analyzing, evaluating, and incorporating current and evolving logistics concepts and policy documents.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
